Hello! These pictures were taken October 9 - 14, 2007. All very recent. Enjoy!

Julianne's Coconut Cake - Completely home-made! The occasion? She LOVES to make a mess in the kitchen!

Mmmmm, open WIDE. The frosting is lightly sweetened and has a hint of coconut, and the cake tastes like a piece of heaven. Wish you could have some too! It's out of this world!

Seth made some dinner ware for us out of porcelain clay. It's been bisqued and is waiting for a spare minute of Seth's time to be glazed and high-fired. Above are the bowls, below are the plates and a serving bowl.

Seth's prized peice: a water pot for a Japanese ceremony, made by Takashi, a 14 generation potter, considered Japan's living national treasure, and one of the great masters from Japan. Seth traded one of his jars for this water jar while at Anderson Ranch this summer. Takashi comes fram Japan to Anderson Ranch every summer for 6 weeks and makes lots of vessels. Seth's jar that he traded to Takashi is now part of Takashi's families permanent collection in Japan. Quite an honor for Seth!

Seth is in his 3rd semester of 6. He is making great progress and is finding his own style after a very hard first 2 semesters! Above: Seth is making a bottle, and fashioning the apron Julianne made for him a year ago.

A view of Seth's side of the studio. All the white vessels have been bisqued, and are waiting for decoration and glazing before they will be high fired.

Vessels from the first part of this semester

Series of bottles with finials. Do they remind you of anything? They should. Think of the city of spires, also known as Prague.

That's it for now. The next update of Seth's work won't be until January; we'll showcase all of this semester's finished pieces then.

Great Blog! - Wow! Seth is super-talented. Thanks for the Christmas card - check out our blog at cbrownfam.blogspot.com
