Life is Great!!

Among the 20+ applications S. sent out one was for a year-long residency to the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts in Helena,Montana. (The Archie Bray is an art center that allows emerging artists to have dedicated studio time - in prestige it's considered the Juiliard for the ceranuc art world). Last week S. had a phone call from the Archie Bray inviting him to a summer residency. S accepted on the spot. 'Surprise - we're moving in a month' S. informed me. Wow - I wasn't expecting to have to vacate Lincoln so soon - we have less than a month to get all our loose ends tied up, find a place to live in Helena, pack, clean, visit with S's family while they're in town for his thesis exhibition show, finish up our adoption application papters (yes, we're going to adopt and hopefull finally catch up with the rest of ya'll with kids), etc. It's amazing how fast life can change gears!

S has an interview with Moorehead State University in Kentucky this month. Hopefully it'll turn into a job! As of yet, still no job offer, but we're being optimistic. S. also applied for ceramic teaching position in a high school in Southern Utah. We would both love to go back home!

The last 2 years a couple of my good friend in Lincoln have had a bookclub. The last book we read was Reading Lolita In Tehran. If you enjoy literature, such from authors such as Jane Austen and Henery James, I highly suggest this book. Any who... a couple of us came to our meeting dressed in theme for the book. (I look really porcelain compared to the rest of the girls!)

Reading Lolita in Tehran has made me more aware of the traditional muslim woman who wear scarves and chadors, and the dedication and effort it takes to keep their hair covered. Thanks K. for the book suggestion and the delicious food!

When we first moved to Lincoln, I bought a new african violet, finally after 2 years it has decided to blossom. I love violets - they make a beautiful house-plant, but are very picky, and somehow I've a "green" enough thumb to keep them alive.
