Arrival

We made it safely to Helena, Montana. We left Lincoln last friday the 8th, around 11 am and arrived in Helena late saturday night about 11 pm. Thanks to the church, there's always help with unloading, even if it is an hour before midnight! Helena feels and looks a lot like Cedar City, UT. We will get to enjoy the budding life of Spring twice (Lincoln's, and hopefully Helena's - it still feels like winter here!) Below are some pix from our travels.

Just prior to our move we went to Independence, Missouri to have our last interview with our case worker/LDS Family Services to finish up our adoption application process. While in Indepence we stopped at the Liberty Jail historic site.

Thanks to a tip-off regarding how close we would be to Mount Rushmore, we decided to take a few extra hours Saturday to make the small detour, and it was well worth it. Mount Rushmore is amazing, you have to see it in person to appreciate the "monumental" task of carving Mount Rushmore.

To my utter dismay, the apartment we moved into was NOT clean, so Seth and I spent two and a half days deep cleaning - washing walls, washer/dryer, cupboards, fridge, stove/oven (that took me a good 5 hours), bathroom, (the shower walls were dingy gray) don't think they'd been cleaned in ages. Let me just say how much I LOVE rubber gloves, Comet spray, and my very own'DYSON' vaccum cleaner!!! After we finally got the little place cleaned and moved into, we really like our new summer home. It's very quaint and cozy. The apartment is furnished - and that means we get to sleep on a double bed - that has taught me to appreciate our queen bed and I am missing it greatly. (We left most of our STUFF in storage).

Our apartment was once a 'mother-n-law' home, and is attached to a house and just above the garage.

This is S.'s new summer studio for 3 months. It's quite rustic! It's in a huge large old brick building, divided into 10 area's where 9 other ceramicists will be setting up their studio/work space. S. was the first to arrive and so he got the first pickings of old chairs and wood tables! All the supplies in the shelves are what he hauled from Lincoln. Thank heavens we have a truck!
